SRAM Pc-1071 10 Speed Chain FAIL. New, only 4 months old, with new SRAM Pg-1070 10 Speed Cassette. Will investigate when I get back to the shop.

There are a few signs that can tell you when it’s time to replace your bicycle chain:

✅ The chain is stretched. You can check this with a chain checker tool or by measuring the distance between two rivets on the chain. A new chain should measure exactly 12 inches across 12 links, from the middle of the pin to the middle of the pin. If the chain is stretched beyond 12 1/16 inches, it’s time to replace it.
✅ The chain is noisy. A worn chain can make a rattling or grinding noise when you pedal. This is a sign that the chain is stretched and has started to wear the teeth on the cogs.
✅ The chain skips gears. If your chain is skipping gears, it’s a sign that it’s worn and needs to be replaced.
✅ The chain is rusty. A rusty chain is a sign of neglect. If your chain is rusty, it’s best to replace it before it starts to damage the other components of your drivetrain.
