Taking SCARY out of used bikes, one bike at a time.
Sometimes a broken spoke is hard to notice until you check the tension or a rattling sound from the wheel or the brakes rub because the rim is now out of true.
Spoke failure is mostly at the “J” bend by the head (like this one) or at the nipple that brakes off into the rim.
These are usually trick to fix and need to be taken to a shop. Because you need first to get the right size and most of the time the tube/tire/rim strip plus the gears need to come off. And then you need a fancy tools like the Truing Stand, Spoke Wrenches and Spoke Tension Meter.
This one is all fixed up and ready for the road.
