Description
The Jamis Quest Reynolds 631 represents a period when steel was being reinvented as a performance road bike material. The Quest, in its various iterations, has long been a flagship model for Jamis, but the versions featuring Reynolds 631 seamless, air-hardening chromoly steel tubing are particularly notable. This material was a key development from Reynolds, offering a significant jump in strength over classic 531 tubing, which allowed for lighter, thinner-walled frames without sacrificing durability.
This combination made the Jamis Quest an ideal choice for riders who valued comfort and resilience over the ultralight stiffness of aluminum or early carbon frames. It was widely regarded as a versatile “endurance” road bike or an excellent choice for Audax and long-distance touring due to its forgiving ride quality. The geometry was designed to be more stable and comfortable for long days in the saddle, often complemented by features like rack and fender mounts, making it a capable all-rounder. By using Reynolds 631, Jamis delivered a bike with the classic, supple ride of steel, but with a modern performance edge.
- Frame: Reynolds 631 seamless air-hardened chromoly main tubes, double tapered cromo stays, lost wax dropouts with eyelets. with a few chips on the paint (See Pictures). The Frame has been cleaned, polished, and coated with ceramic by Lithium Auto Care products.
- Fork: Easton EC70, carbon fiber blades & steerer, alloy crown. 1 1/8″
- Headset: Aheadset, alloy, 1 1/8”, 20mm alloy spacers.
- Tire Clearance: Up to 25c tire. Posable 28c, depending on tire brand and wheel/rim diameter.
- Front Derailleur: Clamp Mount 26.8
- BB shell: 68mm Shell, clean threads

Shipping information: I ship UPS Ground, and the bike is disassembled. It will be packed very well, but if you see any damage to the box or bike, keep the box and packing material, plus take pictures. I do insure all bikes that are shipped and require a signature.
