Industry Description:
The 2007 Trek Madone SL 5.2 is a high-performance road bike from a pivotal era for carbon fiber technology. Made in the USA, this model was part of the generation that moved away from the traditional sloping top tube, featuring a more horizontal design that brought it in line with other compact frames of the time.
Key Industry Information:
- Frame: It utilizes Trek’s lauded OCLV (Optimum Compaction Low Void) 110 Carbon. This was a mid-level carbon layup for Trek at the time, developed for a balance of stiffness, light weight, and a compliant ride. The frame’s geometry was offered in both a “Performance Fit” with a longer head tube for a more upright position and a “Race Fit” for a more aggressive stance.
- Drivetrain & Components: The bike was typically equipped with a full 10-speed Shimano Ultegra 6600 groupset, often with a Shimano Dura-Ace RD-7800 rear derailleur as a high-end upgrade from the factory. It came with either a double (53/39T) or a triple (52/39/30T) crankset, giving riders a choice for their intended use.
- Wheels: The bike commonly came with Bontrager Race Lite wheels, which were Bontrager’s mid-tier aluminum wheelset at the time. These wheels are known to be a solid, lightweight option for the era.
- Brakes: The brakes are standard dual-pivot caliper brakes from the Shimano Ultegra 6600 group.
- Compatibility:
- Cassette: It’s designed for a 10-speed Shimano/SRAM HG-style cassette.
- Bottom Bracket: The 2007 model still uses a traditional threaded bottom bracket, making it highly compatible with a wide range of cranks from that era.
- Rear Spacing: The frame has a standard 130mm rear axle spacing, which is compatible with most modern road wheelsets (though you’d need a 10-speed or a spacer for an 11-speed hub).
- Seatpost: It uses a standard 27.2mm seatpost, which offers a wide range of replacement options.

A little about the seller: I’ve been in the cycling industry for more than 30 years (I know, that makes me old!). I’ve been a professional bicycle mechanic for most of those years, including working locally at Lee’s Cyclery before they became Trek Stores. Now I work from home as a Customer Success Manager for a software team. But I still love fixing up and working on bikes, and riding them too! Purchase from me with peace of mind. Not only can you trust my years of experience, but I will also fit you for the bike and provide any mechanical insight at the time of purchase. No warranties or refunds are provided. The bikes are sold as-is. But It includes follow-up minor adjustments and fitting if needed within the first 30 days if sold locally.
Shipping information: I ship UPS Ground, and the bike is disassembled. It will be packed very well, but if you see any damage to the box or bike, keep the box and packing material, plus take pictures. I do insure all bikes that are shipped and require a signature. In addition, if shipped out of Colorado, there is no Sales Tax. Colorado customers, try to buy Local. Info below:
