Description

At I Know A Guy Bicycles, our “Trusted Partners” are more than just brands—they are vetted small businesses that represent the heart and soul of the cycling industry.

I choose to partner with people who take immense pride in their craftsmanship and who live by the same rule my dad taught me back in his shop: “If you can’t do it right, don’t do it at all.” In a world of mass-produced, “good enough” gear, these partners are true gems. They prioritize quality and longevity over quick sales, ensuring that when I recommend a product to you, it’s a product I’d trust on my own family’s bikes.

Trusted Partner: Bicycle Wheel Warehouse

Bicycle Wheel Warehouse is designed to offer a new dimension in the online market for enthusiast riders, aiming to meet cyclists’ need for high-quality wheels at affordable prices. We specialize in offering wheels that use component specifications that make sense, rather than wheels assembled from miscellaneous parts.

Our wheels differ from many other wheels available online. All of our wheels are 100% built in-house by hand, checked, and rechecked for proper spoke tension and wheel trueness. Compare our wheels with those offered by other websites that often purchase wheels and parts at close-out auctions from overseas factories and repackage them for sale in the U.S. as quality products.

The DT Swiss RR440 is a premium welded tubeless ready + clincher road rim that is light weight and strong for their respective weight, and out perform just about any other road classic clincher out there.

Description:

DT Swiss RR440 wheels are the logical successor to their RR415 rims, which in turn were designed to go head to head with the then unseated #1 road race rim, the Mavic Open Pro.  That’s a long way of saying that the RR440 is one of the best welded road rims available, period.  This rim has a welded seam, precision machined sidewalls, and has a 16mm tubeless ready inner profile.  These are light weight and very versatile.  We stock these rims in a variety of hole counts, and Asym and Non-asym.

This particular option is a 24 hole front / 28 hole rear wheel set build, geared towards Go Fast weekends or those that prefer hills and mountains.

These wheels are built with your choice of top quality Sapim black stainless spokes, and polyax nipples, laced to one of the best sealed bearing road hub sets that we have.  Available with a Shimano 8/9/10 spd, Shimano Road 11/12 freehub, or a Campagnolo 9/10/11 speed freehub.

Where is Your Wheel Set Weight?

Not all wheel weight is equal. An 1800g wheel set with a 20 / 24 spoke count may be using heavier rims, spokes, and hubs, compared to the same wheel set with a higher spoke count. When you lower a wheel set’s spoke count, you run the risk of decreasing durability, as well as lateral stiffness, (the wheels could flex and rub with the brakes). All that, and they tend to feel a bit dull.  These wheels start with the use of a superior rim profile with purposeful wall thickness.  So the rim is light weight, but not flimsy.  The utilization of 3D shaped internal stainless steel nipple washers that match Sapim’s Polyax nipples mean that where the rim is doing the most work, at each spoke hole, we’re increasing the surface area in which the work is conducted.  This reduces rim stress, reduces the likelihood of rim cracking, while promoting rim life.  Expect these wheels to feel better, and last longer than your current mid 1400g wheel set now.
