Inventory number: 08303 TM-SL25
Industry Information:
The Shimano Ultegra FD-6603 is a 10-speed, braze-on front derailleur designed specifically for triple cranksets. As a part of the Ultegra 6600 series, it was a high-performance component in the mid-2000s, known for its smooth and reliable shifting.
Key Features and Compatibility:
- Triple Crankset: This derailleur is engineered to work with a three-chainring setup. It is not compatible with double cranksets due to the difference in cage width and geometry.
- 10-Speed System: The FD-6603 is optimized for use with a 10-speed chain (like the Shimano CN-6600). It must be paired with 10-speed road triple shifters, such as the Shimano Ultegra ST-6603, Dura-Ace ST-7803, or 105 ST-5600. Using it with shifters from a different generation (like the newer Tiagra 4700 series) is not recommended due to different cable pull ratios.
- Braze-On Mount: This version of the derailleur mounts directly to a “braze-on” tab that is already on the bike frame’s seat tube. If your frame doesn’t have a braze-on tab, you can use a braze-on adapter clamp, which comes in various diameters (28.6mm, 31.8mm, 34.9mm).
- Cable Pull: The FD-6603 is a “bottom-pull” derailleur, meaning the shift cable comes up from the bottom of the bottom bracket shell to actuate the derailleur.
- Chainring Compatibility: It is designed to work with a maximum large chainring of 52 teeth and a total capacity of up to 22 teeth (meaning the difference between your largest and smallest chainring should not exceed 22).

Now I work from home as a Customer Success Manager for a software team. But I still love fixing up and working on bikes and riding them too!
Purchase from me with peace of mind. Not only can you trust my years of experience, but I will also fit you for the bike and provide any mechanical insight at the time of purchase.
