If you’ve been hunting for an all silver 700c road rim brake wheel set that you can customize to your heart’s content, and let’s be honest, who hasn’t?, then you’ve just struck gold!  Or silver really.  The Sta-Tru Wheels Road rim is a perfect fit for a ton of riders, in that it doesn’t do any one thing superbly, but does a lot of things really well.

Take for instance the rim’s tapered profile (20.3mm tall, 22mm wide with a 17mm inner), which emphasizes aero and strength.  The rim weight comes in at 525g, which some might say is too heavy.  But the reality is that a lot of road rim break rims scratch 500g without breaking a sweat.  I’d say a close competitor would be the Mavic CXP22, which comes in at 505-510g for example.  Also keep in mind that the real gem about this rim is it’s inner width.  The 17mm inner width means that you’ll be able to run a huge range of tires.  Interestingly, the rim decal says 622×16.  I measured the inner with our caliper, and found it to be 17mm inner spot on.

If you’re thinking, “but they’re not tubeless….”  It’s true, these are not road tubeless, you’ll need to run a road clincher tire + inner tube with this rim.  But in the rim’s defense, the field of road cyclists inquiring about road rim break tubeless in all silver; well, let’s just say the phone’s not ringing off the hook.  If you must run road rim break tubeless, we do have rim options, but they’re all black.  And, we do have have the Sta-Tru TR21’s in silver and tubeless and they are rim break, but they do not have a CNC sidewall, and with their 21mm inner, are more intended for hybrid bikes I’d suppose.

I will note that the CNC sidewall on these rims is finished to a razor’s edge, they’re sharp, in a way that pleases the mind when you gently run your fingers over the CNC’s edge as it transitions to the rest of the rim.  These are great rims, they’re silver, and they’ll work.  What more can you ask for?
