Taking SCARY out of used bikes, one bike at a time.
In a earlier post I showed what to look for in rim coverage. Here is where they used good rim tape but it was the wrong size and was not covering multiple holes. At 100 PSI you for sure will be internal flats and cutting tubes. You need to have coverage from both sides of the rim walls. In this case a 16mm Velox rim tape fixed the issue.
I wouldn’t even know this if I didn’t change out the tires.
So when buying used, go ahead and deflate the tires to inspect the tube and rim condition. A few minutes of deflating and pumping back up will save you time and money on the trails.
