Taking SCARY out of used bikes, one bike at a time.
Series Number 1 “BB Area.”
When cleaning the crankset, I noticed that the bottom bracket was rough. I pulled it and found a lot of contaminants like rust and dirt. Plus, the BB was toast.
Once cleaned out and replaced with a used but still in an excellent condition upgrade, the bike is ready to hit the road once again.
This is something that I missed when I bought the bike and was hard to identify without taking it apart. But if you pull the chain off the crankset and spin, it should be smooth and have no grinding vibration resonation through the frame.
