Keep that Bicycle Value – Don’t Throw Away Money! on Bicycle Sales. Sell it yourself. I have reviewed BikeList and how to use its platform for Bike, Parts, and Accessories.
When trading in a bike, you will likely not get the full value of the bike. This is because the bike shop will need to make a profit on the sale. It is usually better to sell the bike yourself, either through an online marketplace or by advertising it locally. This will allow you to get the full value of the bike, as you will be able to set the price yourself.
There are three steps to selling a bike.
One, determine the value. You can look on Bicycle Blue Book and find similar make and models in your local marketplace and also on eBay.
Two, get it tuned up by a professional/bike shop. Have a receipt and mechanics checklist available for added value. Have the bike ready to ride!
Three, list it with great pictures, detailed descriptions and specs, and geometry information.

My passion for bikes started when my parents opened a shop in the 1980s called Parker Bikes (we were located in Parker, Colorado).
