When doing bicycle maintenance, here are my Tech Tips on removing and disassembling a Shimano Ultegra Triple Crankset for replacing parts or cleaning. The chainrings’ alignment is critical and must be installed correctly for optimum shifting. I have seen a lot of cranksets that have been taken apart by do-it-yourself and were not installed correctly. These tips can apply to most Shimano cranks, new or old.

My passion for bikes started when my parents opened a shop in the 1980s called Parker Bikes (we were located in Parker, Colorado).
