Description

LeMond Seatpost 27.2 x 250 mm Aluminum Alloy Black Road Bike

Has been inspected, Ultrasonic cleaned, and lubed. Ready to be used.

Inventory number: 08604

Industry Information:

A seatpost with a diameter of 27.2mm is a very common standard, particularly for older road bikes and many steel or titanium frames. Its widespread use is due to its compatibility with a large number of frames, and the fact that a narrower diameter allows for a bit more flex, which can improve comfort by absorbing some road vibration.

Key Industry Information and Compatibility:

Diameter (27.2mm): This is the most critical dimension. It must precisely match the internal diameter of your frame’s seat tube. Using a different size (even a fraction of a millimeter off) can damage the frame or cause the seatpost to slip.

  • Length (250mm): The length is important for proper fit and safety. A 250mm length is on the shorter end for modern bikes with compact geometry, but it is suitable for many frames where the seat tube extends higher up. When installing, you must always ensure the seatpost is inserted past the “minimum insertion” line marked on the post. Insufficient insertion can lead to a broken frame and/or seatpost.
  • Material (Aluminum Alloy): Aluminum is a common and reliable material for seatposts. It offers a good balance of strength, low weight, and affordability. While not as lightweight or vibration-dampening as carbon fiber, an aluminum alloy seatpost is a durable and practical choice for most road bikes.
  • Compatibility: This type of seatpost is compatible with any bicycle frame that has a 27.2mm seat tube. It’s a standard size for many steel, aluminum, and even some older carbon road bikes. The clamp design at the top of the seatpost must also be compatible with your saddle’s rails, which are typically a standard 7mm round diameter.
  • Layback/Offset: The description doesn’t specify layback (or setback), which is the distance the saddle clamp is set back from the centerline of the post. A “zero setback” or “inline” post has no offset, while a “setback” post positions the saddle further back. This is an important consideration for achieving the correct saddle position relative to the bottom bracket.

A little about the seller:

I’ve been in the cycling industry for more than 30 years (I know, that makes me old!). I’ve been a professional bicycle mechanic for most of those years, including working locally at Lee’s Cyclery before they became Trek Stores. Now I work from home as a Customer Success Manager for a software team. But I still love fixing up and working on bikes and riding them too!

Purchase from me with peace of mind. Not only can you trust my years of experience, but I will also fit you for the bike and provide any mechanical insight at the time of purchase.

Shipping information:

I ship USPS Ground.  I try to keep it simple. It will be packed very well, but if you see any damage to the box or Part, keep the box and packing material plus, take pictures. I do insure all parts that are shipped. In addition, if shipped out of Colorado, there is no Sales Tax. You can also combine shipping with multiple items.
